IT Project Manager Jobs
The successful completion of technology projects requires the coordination of many different elements and resources, and IT project manager jobs are the organizing force that helps to facilitate these elements. People in IT project manager jobs develop detailed project plans, estimating how much time will be needed for completion, what staff and resources will be necessary, how much it will cost, and what return-on-investment management can expect.
Once the project is initiated, the IT project manager is responsible for overseeing staff, monitoring resource usage, processing change requests, and making sure that the project is on schedule. IT project manager jobs also involve updating project plans in response to changes in the business environment, loss of key staff or resources, shifts in departmental or company priorities, or other circumstances, and providing managers with regular updates and status reports as to progress toward completion or responses to unexpected setbacks.
IT project manager jobs may also include producing project documentation, evaluating employees, and providing updates to human resources or accounting divisions in order to help track resource use and staffing assignments.
IT project management jobs are usually located in the offices of corporations or agencies, where the project manager can coordinate the efforts of other staff members and interact with other areas of the organization. IT project managers may also work in datacenters, supervising upgrades, repairs, and installations of systems.
