Database Administrator Jobs

Database systems store and organize the vast amounts of data that keep the modern information economy running, and people in database administrator jobs are responsible for maintaining these systems.

Database administrators perform tasks such as user account management, changes to the database structure, software patches and updates to the database programs themselves, and regular maintenance routines necessary for detecting any data integrity issues.  Database administrator jobs require a high degree of reliability and attention to detail, to ensure that systems that may contain thousands or even millions of records are protected from data corruption, secure from unauthorized access, and able to process information requests quickly and efficiently.

People in database administrator jobs generally work in office environments, using secure network connections to remotely perform administration tasks on database servers.  The frequency of remote access as a means of database administration also allows database administrators (DBA’s) to work from home or from other locations outside the office.
