Mainframe Jobs
Mainframe systems are the backbone of the computing infrastructure that runs the financial and information exchanges that power the modern economy, and people in a variety of mainframe jobs are needed to configure, monitor, and maintain these essential systems.
Mainframe software jobs include roles such as systems administrators, who are responsible for monitoring system performance, installing and configuring software, and maintaining user access accounts, backup operators, who monitor data backup completion and the rotation and storage of backup media, and hardware technicians, who diagnose and repair hardware-based malfunctions on mainframe systems and are also responsible for hardware installations and upgrades.
Entry-level mainframe jobs, such as backup operator, may need only a high school diploma or equivalent, while mainframe jobs with greater responsibility, such as mainframe programmer or systems administrator, may require a bachelor’s degree in a technical field, as well as several years of experience.
