People in IT change management jobs help to keep large-scale projects on track by handling requests for changes to the project in a way that balances flexibility and adaptability with the acknowledgment and protection of pre-existing priorities.
Examples of IT change management jobs may include change management coordinators, who process submitted change requests and keep records of requests, approvals, and denials, change management analysts, who evaluate change requests to determine the consequences of requested alterations on timelines, budgets, and estimates of successful completion, and change management leads, who develop and implement change management rules and procedures to ensure that changes and requests for change are handled in a uniform, efficient, and thorough manner.
Entry-level IT change management jobs such as change management coordinator may require only a high school diploma, while change management positions of greater responsibility generally require at least a bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field as well as several years of experience. Certifications from organizations such as the Association of Change Management Professionals can also be helpful in obtaining IT change management jobs.
